Learned Lessons Content Coloring Books

Read. Think. Color.

Real middle and high school social studies, taught in short readings with pictures to color. Pick a subject and open the book anywhere, from the kitchen table to the back of the classroom.

Economics

Grades 7–12

World Geography

Grades 6–12

Civics

Grades 6–12

A long textbook chapter can lose a student by the second page.

These books teach in short pieces instead. Each lesson page has a few small readings set beside pictures to color, so students have something to do with their hands while they think about what they just read.

  • Keeps them engaged. Busy hands help a wandering mind stay with the reading.
  • Real course content. Each book covers the same topics as a full middle or high school course, not busywork.
  • Helps it stick. Pairing a short reading with a picture gives students two ways to remember each idea.
  • Lowers the stress. Coloring slows things down, so school feels calmer and more doable.
  • Fits any setting. Use it for homeschool lessons, independent work, sub days, or test review.

Read a little

Every unit opens with a glossary, then moves through lessons in small, manageable readings.

Color a little

The pictures sit right beside the reading, so the coloring keeps students close to the content.

Think it through

Students answer questions in their own words, then finish with a picture assessment. The answers are in the back.

Made for the student a textbook doesn't reach

Homeschooled, struggling in class, artsy, fidgety, or hard to engage. If that sounds like someone you know, start here.

Teachers and tutors

A different way into the same content for students who need one, built by someone who has run a school.

Students

Short readings, something to do with their hands, and a real sense of finishing a page.

Created by a former principal who still teaches

Learned Lessons was built by a former principal and curriculum developer who still teaches students online. These books come out of that work, and they are written for the kids who are the hardest to reach with a regular textbook.
